March-ing along.....

Time is flying...the girls are growing....and the snow keeps falling. Winter is still here, and probably here to stay for a while longer. But - tea, soft music, little footprints and sweet cooing make the cold weather nastiness bearable.

The twins have had quite the run around with sickness....ending up with emergency visits and a five day stay in the hospital. Amelia seemed to have it worse than Louisa, but now Louisa has been going downhill again -  running a fever for the last couple of days and both of them are getting their coughs back. I think we'll be heading back to the doctor as soon as we can get in. Sigh. This RSV virus has been nasty nasty nasty!!! Thankfully, Lydia only had a short bout with it, and recovered quickly. She has been such a help and can now successfully run to the bathroom for "kleenex on a roll" , tear a piece off, bring it to whichever one of us asked for it, wait for its use to be completed and then run it back to the garbage...all the while saying "yuk, yuk". It's amazing just how helpful that is if you've got a babe (or two) in arms. She's also become a great help with unloading the dishwasher, assisting in changing the laundry to the dryer, and fulfilling a general roll of "gopher". She's such a sweetheart and is learning more words slowly...the latest being DIRT and DIRTY. :-)

Life is Full!

I've been thinking a lot about getting this blog up and running...mostly for the sake of our family members who don't live here and aren't on Facebook. I'd like to be able to just post short posts to keep a record of things we're doing, cute antics and photos....Here's hoping I'll actually find some time to do it regularly!

So - to start off.......

As most know, our twins were born September 14th - We were blessed with 2 sweet girls, Louisa Nicole and Amelia Ruth.  They were born 7 minutes apart, healthy and weighing 5.14lbs and 5.10lbs, respectively. We were all able to leave the hospital together 2 days later, which was another answered prayer.


Here are just a few pictures of those first days...

Trying to get labour started for real...and...it works!

This was shortly before I was taken to the operating room. I was allowed to labour in a delivery room, but for the actual birth, when I was about 8cm, I was taken to the OR, just as a precaution! Thankfully, everything went well, and I was able to deliver without needing a c-section! 

This is just minutes after they were both born! Tired and HAPPY! :-)

Double duty....a new normal?

These first 4 months have been a blur....and probably the most challenging I have ever experienced. We had no idea just what having twins would be like, and adding in a very active toddler, well, it's just been crazy. 

I'm going to try to add a few pictures at a time and gradually get caught up to where we are today....but naptimes are almost over and I have lots to do while it's quiet.

Getting back to blogging....

Ok, so I haven't been doing so well with the whole blogging thing. My xanga hasn't been working properly and I haven't been able to post pictures.  So, I figured I would come back to Blogger and see what I could do about getting it up and running. It's different than xanga, so it's taking me a while to get used to it - however, like I said before, I much prefer it over xanga, due to the fact that the ads aren't so offensive!!

Anyway, here are a couple of newish photos

Last Saturday, we went to see the RCMP Musical Ride. It was pretty fantastic and made me proud, once again, to be Canadian!

We're just about through with morning naps, as Lydia wasn't sleeping soundly at night. However, the transition is hard, and the other day she just COULDN'T stay awake by lunch time. Instead of making the trip upstairs ANOTHER time, I decided to let her nap on the living room floor....

We were recently given another highchair, as we'll be needing the booster seat for the twins. Here's Lydia checking it out! :-)

One of the things on my list of things to do before the twins come, was to put some meals in the freezer for those days after they're born when cooking is about the farthest thing from my mind. Yesterday, my dear friend Jen, came and helped cook up 11 meals to put away. Here she and Lydia are chilling with their respective refreshments. :-) 

Today I went out to Calmar with Mom and Dad and picked a bunch of Saskatoon berries from Auntie Karen's garden. I'm not sure how many will make it to the freezer for future use in smoothies - they're just so yummy fresh!

Today is also Jason's last day with Worley-Parsons out at the Petro Canada Refinery. He's been there just over a year and a half.  Tuesday will be his first day with Autopro Automations. We're excited about this new job and the potential it holds for his career.  We're really believing that God opened the door and led the way to this new job - he will be doing work that interests him and the fact that it is a smaller company is something he's really pleased about. I'm sure there will be adjustment as he makes the transition, but hopefully he'll be feeling settled by the time the twins arrive. :-) In the meantime, we plan to enjoy this 4 day weekend!!! :-)

The Big Switch

I've had a blog at Xanga for several years now, and am thinking it's time to switch over to Blogger. I'm quite tired of the inappropriate ads and photos on Xanga. So, here's to making the big switchover. :-) I think it's going to take a bit to get used to, and figure out where to put pictures, etc. (These things take some time!!!) However, I think it will be worth it in the end!
